How to Install E-Z Press™ Threaded Inserts
E-Z Press inserts install cold, making them an ideal solution for adding strong, reusable threads in both thermoset plastics and thermoplastic.
To install, simply drill the appropriately sized hole and press the insert into place.
During installation, the insert compresses slightly along the slot.
Once the insert is installed, it will expand as a fastener is threaded into place. This expansion forces the diamond-knurled outer diameter into the wall of the hole and secures the insert in place.
Any press tool – like an arbor press – can be used for installation.
Hole size requirements vary from material to material. The recommended starting hole sizes you will find on our site are to be used as a general guideline. You should test the installation process in scrap material first. A hole that is too large will allow the insert to spin when the fastener attempts to thread into place. A hole that is too small will compress the insert so much that the fastener cannot be installed.
